Dante Reyes picked up his first pair of clippers at sixteen, cutting friends in his parents’ garage in Scarborough. What started as pocket money became an obsession with one question — how sharp can a cut actually get?
He spent six years in busy chain shops, learning speed and learning what he never wanted: rushed cuts, rotating chairs, clients treated like a queue. In 2018 he opened Straight & Sharp with a deliberate constraint — three chairs, appointments only, never rushed.
Today the shop has completed over nine thousand cuts and holds a 4.9-star rating built entirely on word of mouth. Dante still takes the first chair, still sharpens his own razors, and still books every client back in before they leave.
